Gilt bronze. Over 1 ¼” (1.31”) diameter. Circular with annular banding and quartered transverse bands, the top and bottom flanking stylized Mani in Fede (clasped hands) motif. The edge is inset for the cross pin. When fastened to the jerkin, these small metal brooches provided a measure of protection against sword cuts and, in fact, were a form of armor.
